The Lounge
243 Swanston Street, Melbourne CBD
Up the narrow staircase directly off Swanston Street, I ventured in search of a Chicken Parma. What I was met with was awesome staff, a nicely priced menu, plenty of space to sit for our work crew of 9, and some decent music.
The first of my “Friday Parma” reviews here on What’s for Lunch? has therefore been a good one, with The Lounge’s efforts coming in at around a 7 out of 10. When a venue can comfortably sit 9 people together on a whim, and keep the beer flowing, and serve a 7/10 Parma (quickly too), you know you’re in a good spot.
And that’s really what The Lounge is: A solid work lunch venue. Centrally located? Tick. Reasonably priced menu? Tick. Quick service? Tick. Beer? Tick. Plenty of space? Tick. Balcony? Tick.
What about the Parma? It was a decent size, not too massive, and the chips tasted good. I didn’t try the salad (I won’t be including salad in my Parma ranking algorithm) so we’ll leave that out of the equation. I felt full, but not too full, which is kinda what I’m after in a decent Chicken Parma.
So yeah, if you’ve got a big crew, need something quick, or just keen for a drink, I recommend heading to The Lounge. Their website sums it all up (not really) with a confusing mix of metaphors and nouns:
“It remains as a staple amongst punters.“
