Rice Paper Vietnamese
245 Swanston Street
Vietnamese up the north end of Swanston Street? On this occasion we did try Rooftop Bar for burgers (review coming soon) but had to find something else due to the kitchen being closed. Straight over the road is Rice Paper Vietnamese, so we decided to head there.
The Rice Paper Vietnamese menu is fairly standard when it comes to your cliché Vietnamese restaurant menus, with various starters, salads, noodle soups, rice dishes, and vermicelli all available for a decent price ($8 – $16). It was easy to get a table and the staff were reasonably quick and prompt.
I tried the recommended Special Broken Rice dish (pictured left) and was impressed with the size of serving, however the taste wasn’t anything amazing. It would be a good fall back dish if nothing else on the menu sounded interesting.
Given all of the above, I’ll probably head back to Rice Paper Vietnamese in the future and try some other dishes. The Rice Paper dishes seem like they’d be a good to try and also the Noodle Soups also looked/sounded impressive. If you’re in the mood for Vietnamese, don’t be afraid to give this place a go.
